Rover inaugurated Alsacia Avenue in Bogotá (Colombia)

On the 10th of April, in Bogotá, Rover inaugurated the Guayacanes Avenue, section 3, a project characterised by its impact on the community and which entailed an investment of over 38 million euros. The project includes the construction of 2.75 km of a three-lane asphalt road, including the construction, adaptation, and standardisation of hydraulic networks (potable and sanitary water), the main network, and dry networks (telecommunications).

The avenue, 2.75 kilometres long, is located on 12th Street between 82A Avenue and 71B Transverse, and will directly benefit around 150,000 residents, connecting more than 130 neighbourhoods in the Kennedy and Bosa districts. Most importantly, it will improve pedestrian and urban mobility for more than three million inhabitants throughout the city, who use the main road network of Boyacá Avenue daily.

The avenue, 36.5 metres wide, features 6-metre wide sidewalks. The road consists of two carriageways, each containing three lanes. Both carriageways are separated by a 5.50-metre central median, which includes a 3.10-metre bidirectional bike lane and two lateral green areas, one 0.80 metres and the other 1.60 metres, where trees and green spaces are located.

The construction of Alsacia Avenue includes the building of two parallel bridges over 276 metres long, located at the intersections with Alsacia Avenue (12th Street) and Boyacá Avenue (72nd Avenue). One of these bridges includes a pedestrian crossing, while the other provides continuity for the bike lane. Both bridges will be constructed with two carriageways separated by a central green area.

The project also includes the construction of Urbisa Park, equipped with a basketball court, outdoor gym, and children's playground. This development will improve the conditions and quality of life for local residents, as well as for passers-by, pedestrians, and cyclists, by easing the city's traffic flow and primarily reducing travel times between the western and central parts of the city. Moreover, this project will help to green two of the most polluted districts in Bogotá.

This is a comprehensive, large-scale project that also aims to promote healthy living habits by encouraging sports and environmental care through the inclusion of the bike lane.
