Swedish local press reports on Rover’s work to replace two bridges over the Rörströmsälven and Fjällsjöälven rivers
Under the title “Railway bridge is changed into a great investment”, the local Swedish newspaper Angermanland has devoted an extensive report to the construction work that Rover is currently carrying out as part of the project to replace two bridges over the rivers Rörströmsälven and Fjällsjöälven in the localities of Strömsund (Jämtland) and Solleftea (Västernorrland province).
The construction project that Rover has designed and is developing for Trafikverket, the Swedish transport administrator, involves an investment of €9.5 million and has a 12-month lead time.
The contract consists of the dismantling and demolition of two metal sash bridges from the 1920s, as well as the execution of two new bridges, also metal, in the same location and using the same existing piles and strands. The bridge at Rörströmsälven is 77 metres long and supported by three spans, and that at Fjällsöälven is 131 metres long.
This is a very complex contract, since there is very little time available to carry out the work: only five months of track cut are available, during which the existing bridges must be dismantled and new ones installed. These are first built on one side of the rivers and then gradually pushed to the final location.
Rover has been operating in Sweden since 2018 and, among other works, has carried out the extensions of the ports of Trelleborg and Gävle, or the works on the Norrköping Node (seven kilometres high speed) or two lower underpasses under road in Stockholm.
