UTE Rover y Dragados is awarded the execution of the works on the new railway access canal in Valencia

Adif Alta Velocidad has awarded the contract to the UTE formed by Rover and Dragados for the execution of the works on the new rail access channel for the integration of high-speed in the city of Valencia, which also includes the project for the expansion and remodelling of the Estación de Valencia -Joaquín Sorolla.

These works, funded by the European Union through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan – Next GenerationEU, have a 60-month implementation period and will start in 2023.

The underground construction of the beach on the entrance roads to Valencia includes a new 1.2-kilometer underground access channel, whose maximum depth will be 20 meters and will house seven parallel tracks.

The actions provided for in the contract include both the civil work of underground construction of the access canal as well as road installation, electrification and the civil work of security and communications facilities. It should be noted that all normal traffic will remain in service throughout the duration of the work.

Among the most important units of this work, which reflect the magnitude of the project, we have excavations of more than 2 million m3 of land, more than 54.9 million kg of corrugated steel, 3.3 million kg of structural steel, 480,000 m3 of concrete, 190,000 m2 of screen walls, 72,000 linear meters of micropilotes ….

For its part, the expansion and remodelling project of the Joaquín Sorolla station projects a new track layout: 10 international gauge [UIC], conversion of tracks 8 and 9 from Iberian gauge to international gauge, and the execution of two new ones. Also, the lobby of the passenger building of the station will be expanded to different heights that will give access to new platforms. In addition, the parking lot will be expanded to a total area of 8,000 m2.
