Rover Maritime, a marine infrastructure company of Rover Group, has been awarded the extension of the Greek Port of Thessaloniki in UTE with Mytilineos and HDK, a project where it competed against other international consortia such as Aktor – Tekal, Intrakat – Vittadello – Sales, Eifagge – Tepna, Avax – Etermar S.A. – NV Besix SA, or Acciona Construction and Archirodon. The project involves an investment of 150 million euros and consists in the expansion of the port managed by the concessionaire ThPA for the Greek state with a new dock, the sixth, 513 meters long. This project will allow the Port of Thessaloniki to offer a direct service to ultra-large container ships.

Work to expand the Port of Thessaloniki, the second largest in Greece, is planned between this year and 2025. The new dock will have a useful draught of -17.7 meters in 470 of its 513 meters, and will have an additional area of 306.5 meters wide.

The implementation of this project provides numerous benefits at local and national level in Greece, with estimated annual revenues exceeding €230 million for the port ecosystem during its construction. It is also estimated that the project will generate 3,300 direct and indirect jobs.

Last month the Port Authority of Las Palmas awarded to Rover Group, in UTE with the company Satocan, the construction of a new dock-dock in Puerto del Rosario (Fuerteventura) for 27.5 million euros and with a work execution time of 17 months.

Rover Maritime is currently working on the expansion of the Port of Bilbao, where it is building a new vertical box dock of 250 meters in length and an area of 50,000 m2, which is being developed under the existing dike and with a budget of 33.1 million euros. Also, the construction of the new sheltering dikes for the emblematic Port of Gdansk in Poland, the third largest cargo port on the Baltic Sea, was recently completed, a project that has involved an investment of €134 million.
