Rover takes hold in Sweden with two new contracts: construction of two bridges on E22 and a metro station in Stockholm
Rover strengthens its position in Sweden with two new contracts. This concerns the demolition, design and construction of two bridges on the E22 road (European route), as well as the construction of a new metro station in Stockholm.
The project to design and build two bridges on the E22 south of Kristianstad consists in replacing two existing ones, dating back to 1968, for the client Trafikverket, the Swedish transport infrastructure manager.
The demolition and construction of the two new bridges over the Helgeå river has a budget of almost €25 million and is co-financed by the European Union. Its replacement is expected to be completed in autumn 2026, and the new bridges will have a length of 130 meters and a width of 26.5 meters.
For its part, the new metro station in the Slakthus area of Stockholm will replace two existing ones (Globen and Enskede gård) and represents an investment of around €27 million. The client is the company responsible for building the new Stockholm metro, Förvaltning för utbyggd tunnelbana, and the contract has been formalized in “open book” mode.
The construction of the new metro station foresees the use of 10,000 m3 of concrete for its platform, escalators, scooters and elevators, and is scheduled to be completed in November 2024.
Rover has been operating in Sweden since 2018 where, among other projects, it has tackled the expansion of Trelleborg Port, in the south of the country (a one-kilometre-long dock) or the Norrköping Knot project (seven kilometres of high speed). A path that has enabled it to be the Spanish construction company with the most projects executed and in portfolio in that country, and the second by volume of turnover.
