Resheliance

Rover Maritime participates as co‑leader in the ReShealience project, a European R&D project במסגרת the H2020 program, awarded by the EU to a consortium of 14 entities from 9 different countries. Rover Maritime leads the industrial component and the development of a new cement‑based material with high mechanical performance and enhanced durability for offshore wind applications.

Extending the service life of infrastructure and reducing maintenance costs is particularly important in coastal and marine environments.

UHDC Concrete Floating Platform Prototype for Offshore Wind

Rover, in collaboration with ICITECH (UPV), has developed and manufactured an innovative prototype of a floating platform for offshore wind energy based on a new UHDC (Ultra‑High Durability Concrete) and a design approach based on Durability Assessment Design (DAD). This approach aims to extend service life and accurately predict long‑term performance under extremely aggressive exposure conditions, such as marine environments (XS exposure with chloride attack) and industrial environments (XA exposure with chemical attack).

The ReShealience pilot was designed using a steel offshore floating wind platform as a reference, with the objective of reproducing a similar structure using UHDC concrete. The prototype does not replicate the full platform but rather a representative section, including one of the floaters and part of the connecting arm between floaters.

Location and Monitoring of the Pilot at the Port of Sagunto

For reasons of stability and accessibility, in order to place the pilot under real marine exposure conditions, the arm is anchored to a vertical quay wall at the Port of Sagunto, as shown in the figure.

The project is currently ongoing and, with the pilot installed at the Port of Sagunto, sensor monitoring is being carried out until the planned project completion date in February 2022.

European and IVACE support for the ReShealience project

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 760824.

In 2017, IVACE granted Rover Maritime financial support for the preparation of the ReShealience project, under its programme supporting the preparation of R&D project proposals for the European Horizon 2020 (H2020) programme.
