“Droneroad: Development of a tool for the study of linear infrastructure alignments using drone flights” is an R&D project carried out during 2018–2019 by Rover Infraestructuras and Nova Cartographia, supported by IVACE under the Cooperative R&D Projects Program, co‑funded by FEDER funds of the Valencian Community 2014–2020.
The main objective of the project was the development and validation of a new tool for the study of infrastructure alignments—mainly linear works—by incorporating data and images captured through drone flights into the alignment analysis process.
Within the framework of the project, a study was carried out to define the necessary specifications for drone data acquisition, ensuring that the images obtained meet the required quality and characteristics for subsequent processing and analysis. In addition, the architecture and functionalities of the application were defined and later developed in collaboration with the IT Institute (Instituto Tecnológico de Informática).
The use of the developed tool in linear infrastructure studies conducted by the participating companies enables the acquisition of information almost in real time, through the immediate upload of data to a web‑based platform. This allows the entire project analysis team to share information efficiently—an especially valuable feature for international projects, where multiple teams must work and interact from different locations.
The project was completed in mid‑2019, and the tool is currently available for use by Rover Group personnel under the name MasterView.
