Rover Maritime Completes Phase C of the Wheel Prototype
Rover Maritime has successfully executed the C phase of the Wheel prototype, reaching a new constructive milestone. This operation has made it possible to complete the sole of the Upper Tank, closing the execution circle of this essential part of the prototype with a total of 350 m3 of concrete.
The Wheel project is part of the innovation applied to the engineering and construction of offshore structures, and constitutes a key piece in the strategy of Rover Maritime to transfer research and technological development to the real environment of work. The execution of this prototype allows to validate constructive solutions, work methodologies and productive processes in real conditions, reinforcing the technical and operational learning of the team.
The completion of the sole of the Upper Tank is a particularly significant milestone, as it marks the geometric and structural closure of the prototype base, ensuring continuity in the construction process and laying the groundwork for the development of the next stages. This action completes the execution cycle of this key element from both structural and constructive point of view.
The concrete-paving day was very satisfactory, with close coordination between the concrete production on site and the construction equipment being decisive. This coordination made it possible to ensure proper implementation, by adjusting at all times the supply of concrete to the real needs of the construction process.
Thanks to this joint planning, the supply rate was optimized and aligned with the rate of placement, favoring the continuity of the landfill, the quality of the final finish and the overall efficiency of the operation. This type of action reinforces the importance of integration between production, logistics and on-site execution phases, especially in single projects with high technical components such as the Wheel prototype.
Once this milestone is reached, the project moves on to its next construction phase, which will consist of lifting the vertical walls that make up the tank. This new stage will allow further progress in the materialization of the prototype and continue to validate both technical solutions and constructional ones defined within the framework of the project.
With the implementation of phase C of the Wheel prototype, Rover Maritime reaffirms its commitment to research, development and innovation (R&D+i), integrating technical knowledge, the on-site experience and execution capacity to drive innovative solutions in the field of marine and offshore engineering. This approach consolidates the company as a reference in the application of innovation directly in the real building environment, generating added value both at technical and strategic level.
This project has been funded by the European Union through the Horizon Europe program (Grant ID: 101084409).
