La Harinera
CHARACTERISTICS
Originally built in 1922, the building was constructed as a wheat flour factory. At first, it was an isolated building within the plot with a very large courtyard where the flour wagons were loaded.
In 1939, at the end of the Civil War, a fire destroyed it, leaving only the façades, which meant that in 1941 it was rebuilt and extended with a new three-storey building on Joan Verdeguer street, and some grain silos. The factory ceased operating in the late 1990s and the storage silos were demolished in 2007.
The works consisted of the indoor finishes, installations and equipment and furniture for the interior of the spaces recovered for office use, Harinera building, and spaces dedicated to innovation and business incubators, Burben building.
New micro-cement flooring (+1,000m2), visible installations, a major installation of chilled beams for air-conditioning (about 330ml), equipment, furniture (dozens of tables and cupboards) and toilets have been installed. In addition, two gardens are built, one in the inner courtyard and the other at the rear, and an annexe for facilities.
A further 48 units of photovoltaic modules have been installed on the roofs of the flour mill to improve the energy efficiency of the building.
La Harinera will now house two municipal services, Valencia Activa and the Servicio de Innovación y Gestión del Conocimiento (Innovation and Knowledge Management Service). The central section of the building will be dedicated to innovation spaces, such as meeting rooms, offices and collaborative spaces.
