Project
As part of its diversification strategy, Rover aims to capitalize on the excellent conditions in the sector, along with the strong commitment of public administrations to green and sustainable energy. This new business line is made up of a multidisciplinary team with more than 25 years of experience in the sector, developing, building, and operating renewable energy projects.
Rover Energía has begun construction of the “Energy modernization project through solar photovoltaic energy in the irrigated area of Zújar (Badajoz)” for the state-owned company Sociedad Mercantil Estatal de Infraestructuras Agrarias, S.A. (SEIASA). Previously, it had already built the photovoltaic installation for the irrigation community of Casinos for the same organization.
The aim of this project is to replace conventional energy consumption with self-consumption of renewable energy. To this end, Rover—through a joint venture with Tecmosa and Ambling—is constructing two photovoltaic plants. One of the most distinctive aspects of the project is that one of the plants makes use of the water surface of the Zújar Irrigation Community reservoir.
The plant located on the reservoir consists of solar panels installed on 3,620 floating modules occupying a total area of 13,172 m². Meanwhile, the ground-mounted plant consists of 2,640 modules installed on prefabricated concrete structures.
In total, both plants will provide 3.7 megawatts of installed capacity for self-consumption, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of 1,500 households and representing an annual reduction of 750 tonnes of CO₂ emissions.
This project is part of the expansion of Rover’s business line for the development and construction of renewable energy projects.
