Turnout tamping machine
Plasser & Theurer
08-475-45
The productivity of this turnout tamping–levelling–lining machine is very high, as when working on a switch, it is capable of packing the diverging track while simultaneously aligning and levelling the main track, reducing tamping time and improving the quality of the works.
It is equipped with a split single‑sleeper tamping unit, with the capability of lateral displacement of the unit relative to the machine frame, as well as laterally tilting tamping tools, allowing tamping of the entire turnout area.
It can operate on both standard gauge and international gauge tracks.
Notable features include:
- Working system with absolute reference and fixed point
- Computer‑assisted guidance system, including track survey and computerized geometry optimization
- 8‑channel graphical recorder for track parameters
- Third‑rail lifting arm automatically synchronized with the machine’s levelling system
- External tamping unit capable of reaching up to 2.80 meters from the axis of the main track, enabling tamping on the inner side of the fourth rail of the longest turnout configuration
